Aljazeera Source The briefing by Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, came at the request of Jordan. It comes as UNRWA has faced pressure amid Israeli allegations members of its staff participated in October 7 attacks.
A final report from an independent review of UNRWA, led by Catherine Colonna, is due on 20 April. Lazzarini said that while many countries have resumed funding for the agency after UNRWA quickly responded to Israel’s claims, including immediately terminating those accused, many funders have not returned.
